The Webmaster's Office provides a variety of services to the campus community. Our primary service is providing web support to campus departments and divisions.

The University Webmaster's Office provides web site services for academic departments and administrative divisions on campus. Our crack-staff of design professionals can help you design or redesign a site, request a virtual url, and locate a server to host your site. See below for the design process and frequently asked questions.

The Design Process:
- We meet with you to determine your needs and discuss options for your site
- We provide you the url and server hosting
- We provide technical support for Macromedia software
- You enter the content and build your site

- Q: Will you build my website from start to finish?
A: No, we only provide technical support - the user is responsible for entering content. - Q: Do you maintain college, department, organization and club sites
and pages?
A: No, we only maintain web services for the Unviersity and ITS websites. Colleges, departments, organizations, and clubs are responsible for their own content. - Q: Do your services cost anything?
A: We are a free university service which provides departments with templates and training - you add the content and maintain your own website. For full website design and creation, please visit the Instructional Technology Center, an on-campus media center which can provide full design services for a fee. - Q: Can student organizations take advantage of this service?
A: No, unfortunately with our limited resources (1 person) we are unable to provide direct services to student clubs and organizations. Contact CSIL for information about student organization web services. - Q: Can my site utilize server-side technology?
A: For certain qualified individuals and departments, ASP, Perl CGI, and PHP can be made available on several ITS servers. Contact us for more details - Q: Can I have my own Domain name?
A: Campus departments and organizations may request a Virtual URL (i.e. www.webmaster.appstate.edu), which is granted on a case-by-case basis. Individual faculty and staff members may not request Virtual URLs for their personal websites. Please contact us to request a Virtual URL.
