Specifications for web sites and services
Site Pre-Launch Checklist
- Highly recommended :
- Does the site clearly identify its relationship with Appalachian State University by using the appropriate logo and linking back to www.appstate.edu?
- Does the site clearly identify the organization, department, or administrative unit and primary webmaster/contact?
- If the site is linked from the top tier site or internal to a parent site, has it adopted the appropriate templates or look and feel?
- Does the site link to the University disclaimer page and include a copyright?
- Are the web pages ADA/508/Priority 1 Compliant?
- Does the site render appropriately in the supported browsers and platforms?
- If the site has undergone a redesign, have the University Webmaster's Office and other campus webmasters been notified of link changes?
If you answered "No" to any of these questions, you are not ready to publish your site.
- A really good idea :
- Has the site been checked for spelling, grammar, and links errors
- Are pages and navigation consistent across the site and sub-sites?
- Are the pages printable?
- Do the web pages validate under the appropriate document type and version?
- Does the site avoid using "click here" (wikipedia definition) or "mystery meat navigation" (wikipedia definition) links?
- Are image and other media files of reasonable size and quality for the target audience?
If you answered "No" to any of these questions, you should probably reconsider publishing when you have complied with all of these highly recommended items.
