This section will tell you how to Define and Manage a site using the SITE MANAGER.

Site ManagerTo open the site manager, click on the Site dropdown menu at the top and select "Manage Sites". This will open the Site Manager panel >>>

To create a NEW site, click on the NEW button in the upper left.

This will open the Site Definition window. (Use the ADVANCED options here, rather than the basic)

Site Manager - Defining local informationIn the Category window on the left, select Local Info, then change the following information.

1. Site Name:
Give your site a name, this sitename can have spaces or special characters, but this is the only place!

2. Local root folder.
You will need to create a folder somewhere on your computer to store your pages. Click on the BROWSE folder to the right of the white box and navigate on your computer to where you would like to store your webfiles, and create a NEW folder. If you already have a folder or location where webpages will be stored for this site, then navigate to and select that folder.

You will have to hit select TWICE, the first time when you click on the folder and the second time after you have "entered" the folder.

If you have an account on the VMS server, then you are done with defining a site. Click OK, and then click DONE in the Manage Sites window to create your site.

If you have an account on the PM server, NT server or another server, you will be able to set up Dreamweaver to Upload and Download your files to the internet. Visit the Publishing page for details on how to set up your Site Manager with the correct settings.

Once you have created your site, it will show up in the Files panel in your Dreamweaver workspace, and as you add files to your site, they will show up in this panel.
